私の伝統文化「漆」との出会い
輪島塗 塩多漆器工房（塩多政喜･朋子）の塩多 朋子さんからシェア
世界には様々な伝統文化があり、どの世界も驚きと輝きに満ちています。私たちの足元の文化について考えていた20代前半の頃、それまで、まったく知らなかった漆に出会いました。
漆の艶はとても美しく、素材としても、力強いもの、永遠性を持っています。
そんな漆の魅力に取りつかれ、東京での法律事務所勤めをやめ輪島に移住してから、少しずつ漆工や木工の技術を学んできました。
研修所で卒業制作を作る際、私が思いを巡らせたのは日本の伝統文化を振り返り、新しく自分の中に生まれ出てくるものを、世の中に形にして送り出すことでした。
箱の歴史を調べ、まずは中味となる文房四宝について勉強していて、私が最も心を動かされたのは、美しいかな料紙でした。素材となる木を探していて、私が、ぴったりだと選んだのは、台湾のクスノキ、中には、湿度を調節する桐をはめこんであります。飾りとしては、漆をすりこんだ赤い色をしたアフリカンパドークを選び、最後に、砂子（すなご）を蒔いて、かな料紙を収納する箱を完成させました。
これからも、勉強が続きます。幸せな人生だと思います。
There are many traditional cultures and I respect each of them. When I thought about our own culture around 20 year’s old, I met with urushi (lacquer). The gross of urushi is so beautiful and the material is strong and eternal.
I quitted my job at an international law office in Tokyo and moved to Wajima in Ishikawa Prefecture, then I have continued to study the traditional skill of lacquering and woodworking.
When I tried to make my article of graduating I studied our own culture again in order to create my thought. I studied about the history of boxes and tools for writing.
The most impressive one was the paper for writing Japanese kana character. The wood which I chose were Taiwanese camphor tree, Paulownia and red African Padoke.
I sprinkled gold dust for finishing. The study is not endless. I think I am living a happy life.
