水田とバナナ（タイ北部）
Paddy fields and banana tree in north Thailand
タイ北部チェンライ県の水田。
水田脇にはバナナが青い実をつけています。
平均気温が高いタイでは当たり前の風景かも知れませんが、米とバナナの取り合わせは、不思議な光景に写ります。
タイ北部では、比較的涼しい気候のためジャポニカ米の生産が可能で、奥に広がる水田では、日本の主食であるジャポニカ米の田植えが2月に始まりました。
5月から6月頃には収穫が開始され、7月にはまた作付けが行われます。
さて、水田脇のバナナはたまたま自生しているのか、何らかの目的があって植えているのか。もしかしたら大変な知恵が隠されているかもしれません。

The photo shows paddy fields in Chiang Rai, north Thailand.
There is a banana tree with green fruits beside the paddy field.
It might be usual scenery in Thailand where the average temperature is high, but I feel the combination of paddy field and banana is a strange scenery.
It is possible to produce Japonica rice in north Thailand for relatively cool climate, Planting of Japonica rice began in February at the field at the back.
The Japonica rice will be started harvesting during May and June, and will be planted again in July.
By the way, it would not be clear whether the banana tree has grown up naturally or was planted for some purpose. Perhaps great wisdom may be hidden in it.
