高温乾燥型天候で収穫に向けて生育が進展（インド）
Hot & dry weather is accelerating development in the run up to the harvest in India
国際穀物理事会の報告（2018.3.22公表）によれば、2018/19年度のインド小麦の播種面積は、前年度を4％下回るものの、ほぼ平年並みの3,040万ヘクタールとなる見込みです。
インド北部の主産地では、３月半ば以降、高温乾燥型の天候が続き、収穫に向けて生育が急速に進んでいるとのこと。
生産量は前年度を5％下回る9,400万トンとなる見通しです。
本日の写真は、2018年3月4日に撮影された、インド北部ヒマーチャル・プラデーシュ州の小麦畑です。
生産者によれば、作物は分げつ期～開花期を迎え、２月下旬には降雨に恵まれ、作柄は良好とのこと（写真①）。
しかし、この雨は雑草にも恵みの雨となり、現地でムラハと呼ばれる雑草も大量に生えてきてしまったそうです。
写真②は、除草作業の様子です。
同州では、小麦の収穫作業は４～５月に行われる予定です。

According to IGC report released 22th March, at 30.4 m ha, wheat sowing in 2018/19 declined by 4% from the previous season, but were broadly equal to the recent average.
Hot, mostly dry weather lingered across the main northern producing states since middle of March, likely accelerating development in the run up to the harvest.
Today’s photos show wheat growing fields in Himachal Pradesh, northern India as of 4th March 2018.
The crop was in tillering/flowering stage. Photo① shows the healthy wheat field with good amount of rain in February end. This rain supported not only wheat development but also growing abundant quantity of weed, named Muraha (local weed name).
Photo② shows a farmer manually pulling weed from his wheat field. In the states, wheat is usually harvested during April and May.
