なたねは順調に生長（英国）
Rapeseed is progressing steadily in England.
これらの写真は、ロンドンから東に40マイル（約64キロ）離れたケント州の「ノース・ダウンズ」と呼ばれる丘陵地帯に位置するなたね畑です。
天候に恵まれ、作物の生長速度は速いです。
1月は温暖な気候となり、2月上旬に降雪と霜がありました。この冷涼な気温が春先の病虫害のリスクを低減させています。
写真②を見ると、地上に麦わらが見えることから、この畑のなたねは小麦の裏作として栽培されていることが分かります。
なたねは市場価格が高く、また、窒素を固定するため土地の肥沃化に貢献することから、裏作作物として好まれています。

These photos show rapeseed fields in the area of chalk hills known as the North Downs about 40 miles east of London in the county of Kent.
Mild weather in January followed by some snow and frost in early February mean that conditions have been favorable to crop growth and this field shows that the crop is progressing fast.
Cold weather in early February should help prevent pest and disease when spring starts.
In the photo②, as you can see some wheat straw lying on the ground, this rapeseed in the field has been planted as a break crop in succession to wheat.
Rapeseed is a favored crop for this purpose as the price of the crop has been good and the crop fixes nitrogen thus replenishing the soil’s fertility.
